The Payroll Standard helps employers identify payroll software products with the essential features necessary to calculate PAYE, NICs, Statutory Payments and perform a range of other payroll functions.
Payroll software developers can apply to have their products tested against the Payroll Standard. Products that successfully pass the test and receive accreditation can display the HM Revenue & Customs Payroll Standard logo (shown above) on their marketing material.
Accredited payroll software products may be used by employers themselves, or on their behalf by
- an agent
- a payroll bureau
- an Internet payroll service.
The Payroll Standard is updated periodically to reflect changes in legislation and is available to view and download from www.hmrc.gov.uk/ebu/payroll.htm
